Since 2020, Alex has been writing with a goal in mind: to communicate ideas with you, the reader. It turns out, the hardest part of being a writer is the crushing doubt you’re faced with day in, day out; doubt that your stories are good; doubt that anyone cares about what you’re doing; doubt that it’s a viable career.
That’s where I come in. Xander here. I’m Alex’s pen name. I know what you’re thinking: sounds like a regal fantasy writer name. Instead, it’s simple, really:
Ale(Xander) + my mother’s maiden name.
That’s it
Simple as it is, it does allow Alex to separate his work from his personal life, allowing it room to breathe while he takes care of working to pay bills and spending time with his family. So, here I am. Get used to it.
If you made it this far, congrats! you either like to read so much that you’ll read anything — or — you’re showing Alex pity for the self-destructive journey he’s about to embark on.
Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of him.
Muahahaha.
I’d like to mention that, while Alex does cater to some genre boundaries, he also writes whatever he wants. Sometimes he may write deep, dramatic horror. Sometimes, like the upcoming Audrey Greene series, he writes YA urban fantasy thrillers. Sometimes, horror comedy. He’s also going to try his hand in writing serials, as he’s got a good start going on a “good for her” horror / revenge thriller (my wife’s words, not mine). The main character is a chef named Jack who ends up finding and assisting some unfortunate women trapped on an island who will get the justice they deserve and make their captors pay.
Enough about that for now.
I firstly want to thank a few people: My wife, for always believing in me. I wouldn't have even gotten this far if it weren’t for her. My kids, for shining bright in a tough world. And a few very important readers for lighting a fire under my butt, pushing me to set a timeframe and finally release the book I’ve been sitting on since 2021.
It’s a coming of age story about a girl, Audrey, lost in her own life. Her father disappeared when she was a child, and as a teenager she’s lost interest in how she reacts to the world around her. She’s gifted a trip to Mexico from her mother, and plans to lose her old self while she’s there. A sudden turn of events forces her to face her worst enemy, herself, in ways she never imagined.
You’ll have to wait until the book comes out to learn more, but I’ll try to pepper in some bonus content on the instagram page (@xanderroyle)
Thanks again if you got this far. I’ll update you in the coming months about anything else Xander Royle.
Cheers!
A.G. + Xander
